OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS
FR. RICH REPORTS: Yesterday (Saturday, October 22nd) was the optional memorial (feast day) of Saint John Paul II for the ordo (calendar)
of the Church in Canada. For that reason I will wear the gold papal chasuble we have with the image and symbol of his papacy. May we ask Saint John Paul II who told Father Mac Lean that he knew about our parish when he visited Nova Scotia
back in 1984, to continue to pray for our parish community. Very soon we will enter the month of November. The Polish word "Listopad" means the falling of leaves. The month is special as it begins with two holydays (though not of obligation) - All Saints Day (November 1st) and All Souls (November 2nd).
In the past we would have a Novena of Masses begin on All Souls Day with nine consecutive Masses offered for all the souls
recommended by the faithful in special envelopes (Wypomniki) with the names of deceased loved ones and family members. I cannot be here to offer those Masses as I will be leaving after All Souls to return to Las Vegas. Instead, I will offer a Tridium (3 days of Masses) for deceased. The Tridium will begin on the vigil of All Souls (Monday evening Nov. 1st) with Mass at 6:30pm. The other two Masses will be offered on Wednesday and Thursday.
If you wish to participate in the All Souls Tridium of Masses please take the envelope and return in the collection basket next Sunday or mail to the glebe house . Please print the names of loved ones you wish to be remembered in prayer. The Wypominki names of deceased will be read in place of the petitions at the three Masses followed by special prayers and chant. Special condolences: I wish to convey to the family of Leona(Melski) Hamper upon the passing of her husband James Henry (Jim). A funeral service was conducted by me at the Curry Funeral Home on Saturday. May his soul rest in God's peace! – Father Rich
WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK: On behalf of the parish, sincere condolences and prayers are extended to the Ardelli and Lachowiez families. Please remember in your prayers Gloria Lachowiez MacDonald (aunt of Paul MacKinnon), who passed away at the age of 91 on October 9. Please also remember in your prayers Albert (Abbey) Musgrave, only surviving sibling of Shirley Ardelli, who passed away on October 18.
STO LAT! Wishing Frania McKay many blessings on her birthday!
PARISH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: After Mass on Sunday, November 6 (moved from Oct. 30). We will have financial reports and elections to our parish Rada. A friendly reminder that as per our parish by-laws, nominations to Rada must be received in advance (this coming week). Please do not hesitate to be in touch with Nominations Committee members Marjorie Ardelli and Janet Hawthorne, including if you think you might be interested and have any enquiries.
SINCERE THANKS to everyone who helped with yesterday’s Polish take-out meals at our church! It all went very smoothly! We’d like to invite the volunteers who helped with preparation on any of the days to join us for a quick photo for the parish Facebook page after Mass in Sala 1050.
POCKET PARK: The Polish pocket park at the corner of Victoria Road and Franklin St is starting to take shape!
REPAIRS: At the Polish Village Hall, foundation cracks have been repaired and the foundation has been repainted.

Or you can contribute via our CanadaHelps page. We are supporting our sister city Wałbrzych’s refugee assistance fund, the Catholic Near East Welfare Association, and the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development and Peace.
FOOD CUPBOARD: Please consider bringing a non-perishable food or personal care item (e.g. shampoo, soap, toilet paper) to church when you come to Mass. These items will help stock our food cupboard outside the Polish Village Hall. There is a significant need in our community. Thank you for any help.
OUR POLISH-THEMED RADIO SEGMENTS: The Coast Radio 89.7 (weekdays at 3:50pm and 7:50pm or any time at coastalradio.ca). This coming week's topic will be the grandparents’/dziadkowie collage project. Many thanks to Tony Gniewek for lending his voice. This segment is sponsored in honour of Rita Dziubek MacDonald on the occasion of her 90th birthday!
We’re always looking for sponsors and volunteers. It’s $100 for a whole week. Sponsors are recognized on air – and any dedications, too (eg. if you’re sponsoring as a memorial or as a birthday or anniversary gift). The Coast is generously redirecting the sponsorships back to the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society (which produces the segments), which has been a big help to the Society. If you think you might like to sponsor a week, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 563-1226. Many thanks!

LITERARY CHALLENGE: As described by Consul General Wisniewski when he visited us on Sept. 11. The poem / ballad we’ll be learning is Adam Mickiewicz’s famous Powrόt Taty. Here is the link to the poem that we will be invited to read together at the parish November lunch (November 13), close to Polish Independence Day. It is about children whose prayers were answered for their father’s safety when he was attacked on a lonely road: https://literat.ug.edu.pl/amwiersz/0012.htm
