OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

RE-OPENING THIS SUNDAY (WITH PUBLIC HEALTH RESTRICTIONS): This is an excerpt from an e-mail, along with a letter from Fr. Dennis, sent on June 16 to all parishioners for whom we have e-mail addresses, shortly after Dr. Strang’s announcement that a partial re-opening is possible.
-We will be able to have up to 40 in the main church (25 percent of our posted capacity) and 10 in the Sala (to ensure no more than a total of 50 in the building).
**If you were a regular attendee over the winter and early spring, and if you cannot make it, please call Stephanie Black at 902-578-3697. Otherwise, we'll look forward to seeing you on Sunday (and hope for the best!).
**If you were not attending regularly in the winter and early spring, but would like to resume, please call Stephanie at the number above.
-If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to be in touch
-We're following the same protocols as before for Communion, hand sanitizing, mandatory masks, distancing etc.
Thanks for all the kindness and goodwill and mutual support during this difficult time. Praying for a successful re-opening!

FOOD CUPBOARD: If you are attending Mass this Sunday, we would be so grateful if you could bring a non-perishable or personal care item for the Food Cupboard. In particular, personal care items appear to be especially needed at this time – things like toothpaste, shampoo, sunscreen, soap, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products, facial tissues, etc. Also, nutritious non-perishable breakfast items like cereal and peanut butter. Thanks for all your help! God bless!

Prayers for all graduates!

Szczęśliwego dnia wielokulturowości/ Happy Canadian Multiculturalism Day – June 27.

Szczęśliwego Dnia Kanady / Happy Canada Day! Blessings to all! Please pray for peace, harmony, and reconciliation.

GEARING UP FOR SEPTEMBER – NOVA SCOTIA POLISH HERITAGE MONTH: We’re reaching out to groups, schools, families, businesses – anyone who can do a little something to acknowledge Polish heritage. We’ll be publishing a consolidated list / calendar in August. And thanks to the Steering Group for the excellent meeting by Zoom on Saturday morning. It’s going to be a wonderful month!

VISITING POLISH PROFESSOR: Would anyone be interested in hosting for two weeks in November? CBU Professor Peter MacIntyre is collaborating with a Polish colleague at the University of Silesia. He is reaching out to us to ask if anyone in our Polish community might be interested in “a B & B type arrangement.”

PARISH POLISH COOK BOOKS – SECOND PRINTING! Now available: These are the 100th anniversary cookbooks from 2013, featuring recipes and stories from many parishioners. The cookbook project was coordinated by Shari McKay. Copies are $10 each and we’d be happy to send copies anywhere. Please be in touch: 902-563-1226; tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca

MURAL PROJECT: Dear Friends: Please suggest Polish Cape Breton homes – standing or no longer standing – to feature in a mural project for NS Polish Heritage Month (a project of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society) – working with artist Emily Sheppard. (contact: 902-563-1226; tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca). The mural will have a home at the Polish Village Hall!

WEEKDAY RADIO SPOTS ABOUT POLISH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE IN CAPE BRETON: The Coast Radio: Every weekday at 3:50pm and 7:50pm (FM 89.7). And archived at coastalradio.ca. It’s called the “One Minute Polish Broadcast”. Learn a new Polish word, phrase, or cultural tradition. Presented by the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society. Would you consider sponsoring a whole week of our radio segments for $100? The Coast has kindly agreed to allow the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society to do this as a fund-raiser (they are not charging for air time). Sponsors will be acknowledged on air (IMOs are welcome, birthday tributes, etc). Dziekujemy! And, we’re recruiting volunteers to go on air (pre-recorded). We’ll help you get ready. No previous experience required, and you do not have to be a Polish speaker. This is a great way for us to bring forward members of our community, and to promote and share Polish language and culture in our region. Our radio theme for this coming week will be Polish carrot summer salad. Thank you to Stephanie Black for lending her voice this week. This segment is dedicated to the memory of Joan Wludyka Poirrier.

ST. MICHAEL’S POLISH BENEFIT SOCIETY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: This evening at 7:00pm by Zoom (join by computer or phone). Key item is to share information/concept plan for an important federal funding application that the Society is preparing related to the Polish Village Hall. A warm welcome to all Society members or to anyone who would like to become a Society member (dues are $30 per year). Society membership is open to anyone interested in promoting Polish culture and heritage in Cape Breton. If you would like a link or phone number to this evening’s meeting, please e-mail tom_urbaniak@cbu.ca or call 902-563- 1226.
