We will have people on hand to help “interpret” or identify items as well as to take photos or scans for posterity. The Polish community in Cape Breton has such a rich history. Many artifacts and memories are in danger of being lost or forgotten. The pop-up museum is one of the events this year marking the 110th anniversary of the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society.

Rich Philiposki’s 40th anniversary of ordination celebration. Meanwhile, Peggy Ryba, Ursula Melski, Ursula Melski Jr., Frank Starzomski, and Tom Urbaniak are in Halifax for the meeting of the Atlantic Canada District of the Canadian Polish Congress. They’ll be attending Mass at Saint Faustyna Polish Mission this afternoon.

National President Janusz Tomczak of the Canadian Polish Congress and Consul General Dariusz Wisniewski asked to pass along their thanks for the wonderful hospitality

THANK YOU to our parish’s representatives last Sunday at the 175th anniversary of the diocese. Delores Starzomski, Sophie Chislett, Kristofer Starzomski-Wilson, Frankie Chislett, and Frank Starzomski presented traditional Polish bread and salt prepared by Peggy Ryba.

HERITAGE CONFERENCE THANK YOU: On behalf of the Heritage Conference attendees who were at the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society event on Saturday night (Sept. 14) at the Polish Village Hall, I’d like to thank everyone who made the event such a great success. I had many comments the next day on how wonderful the meal was, how welcoming everyone was. The music and dancing were greatly enjoyed, the wonderful costumes. What many people said to me was that they felt a real sense of community in our Society and Parish. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanks. Jerry Pocius

AN EXCERPT FROM ST. JOHN PAUL II’s ADDRESS TO THE GATHERING OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CANADIAN POLISH COMMUNITY 35 YEARS AGO. This big gathering was in Toronto. However, the day before the Pope had met with members of our parish in Halifax. I would like to meet with each and every one of you, to reach you and wish you well. In you and through you I send greetings to all our beloved compatriots of Polish ancesty who live in this land of Canada from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific, and who for various reasons were not able to be with us this evening. This word of greeting I extend to all the Polish parish organizations, Catholic organizations, and youth groups, to scientific and charitable organizations and to all the Polish families in Canada. In a very special way I extend my warmest greetings to the priests gathered with Bishop Szczepan Wesoly, to religious communities, to those engaged in physical or intellectual work, the elderly and those who are afflicted with the cross of suffering; to the youth and children - to everyone! To each and every one of you I give a heartfelt greeting and embrace you in peace as Pope and brother.  My thoughts go also to those Polish Canadians, pioneers who at one time walked the same road as today's Polonia and who now rest in peace.

“Every human project can first be approved and then end up shipwrecked. But everything that comes from above and bears the “signature” of God is destined to last” --A recent message from Pope Francis on Twitter
