WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: Our parish was represented at the ecumenical World Day of Prayer service on Friday at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Glace Bay. This year’s service was developed by Christians in Slovenia. The service and the homily were on radical hospitality – making sure the doors to our churches are open, even to people we have not met, and there may always be place at our tables.
PRISCILLA WOJCIK (1926-2019): Our parish expresses its prayers, love and support to Priscilla’s family and friends.
THANKS FROM THE FAMILY OF PATRIARCH VINCENT WATERMAN: Our parish was officially represented at Patriarch Vincent’s funeral Mass yesterday at St. Philip’s African Orthodox Church. His family asked to pass along gratitude for the prayers and expressions of sympathy from our community.
SWIĘTY KAZIMIERZ JAGIELLOŃCZYK/ST. CASIMIR – ONE OF THE PATRON SAINTS OF POLAND AND LITHUANIA (FEAST DAY – MARCH 4): Although St. Casimir died at the young age of 25 (in 1484), his short period as prince-regent of Poland was marked by prudence, tolerance, and a search for peace. St. Casimir followed an ascetic, prayerful lifestyle. He did not like rich trappings. He wanted noble families to share their bounty with the poor. Let us pray for the same grace and wisdom. Święty Kazimierz, módł się za nami! St. Casimir, pray for us!
“Sometimes we may feel we are alone in facing difficulties. But, even if He doesn’t intervene immediately, the Lord walks by our side and, if we keep going forward, He will open up a new path!” – A recent message on Twitter from Pope Francis
