OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

FATHER RICH REPORTS:
Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Praise be Jesus Christ!
Dear Parishioners & Friends:
The Church universal began on January 18th a week of prayer for Christian Unity. Catholics, Protestants and Eastern Orthodox Christians around the world pray that one day soon we could be united in faith. Although there are many obstacles for true unity and conformity, there are many steps of goodwill, understanding and common ground that all Christians share. The scripture readings this Sunday tell us (in the first reading) how prayer and fasting change God's mind in regard to punishment for sin and allow more time for people to change their hearts. The Gospel tells us about the call of the first Apostles in following Christ's call to become fishers that bring people to salvation.
Our PREP (Parish Religious Education Program) classes resume this Sunday after the 10:00 am Mass. In contrast with earlier generations, our youth today have very precious little time to hopebully be formed in their faith.
The Parish Rada (Wednesday meeting cancelled because of snow) will meet to discuss and act on many important matters.
I am putting a last call for memorials for the deceased or recognition of the living for the plaques that will line the corridor connecting the church with Sala 1050. We wish to close the list by the end of January. The sum of $200 total contribution is requested for listing on the recognition plaques.
Please put on your calendar Friday, February 2nd when we celebrate the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (known also as Our Lady of the Candles) with a special earlier Mass at 6:00pm that will have blessing of candles and a procession with the last time singing of "Kolędy". Afterwards all are invited to "Polski Piątek" (Polish Friday) for a social in the lower level of the Polish Village Hall. Have a Blessed week!

SPECIAL CELEBRATION OF CANDLEMAS DAY / POLSKI PIĄTEK AFTER WORK PARTY: On Friday, February 2, we will have a special Mass, blessing of candles, and procession at 6:00pm. Then we will gather for a relaxed reception, some food, folk demonstrations and Polish traditions for this holiday at the Polish Village Hall, downstairs. Everyone is welcome. OUR PARISH CHRISTMAS TREE AT THE OLD BANK MUSEUM WON FIRST PLACE: Thanks, Eileen and Brittany for coordinating, and everyone who lent ornaments. Beside the tree was lots of information about the parish and Polish traditions. People donated loonies and toonies to the parish in a jar beside the tree ($123).

POLISH FOLK DANCE PRACTICE: Today after 10:00am Mass in Sala 1050.

SPECIAL SERVICE / RECEPTION: For Rev. Phyllis Marsh's 70th birthday, St. Philip's African Orthodox Church today at 3:00 pm. All welcome. Our Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble has been invited to sing.

COMMUNITY MEALS PROJECT: Last Tuesday’s meeting was moved to this coming Tuesday due to weather: As previously reported, as a follow-up to the Pier Community Development Walks, a few faith communities and other groups are talking about working together to resume the weekly Pier community meals (Loaves and Fishes satellite service) that was offered at Trinity United Church before it closed in 2013, when the site became unavailable. The concept is that the collaborating groups/ inter-faith steering committee would use our kitchen (after it’s completed) and Sala for this weekly service to the community (because our location is central and wheelchair-accessible). We are having a focus group lunch meeting to further discuss this on Tuesday from 11:45am to 1:00pm in our church. Anyone from our parish who is interested is most welcome. If you would like to attend, please call 902-563-1226.
