FATHER RICH REPORTS:

Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrystus! Praise be Jesus Christ!

“Come to Me, all of you who labour and find life burdensome”. At times, all of us may feel and find ourselves burdened with all the crosses of life. In the Gospel for this Sunday Jesus invites us to leave our burdens and troubles with Him and He will assist and help us.
As we enter our brief but beautiful summer weather here in Cape Breton, our attention turns to our lawns and outdoor grounds. I want you all to know the volunteers from our Property Committee especially Jimmy Campbell and John Morykot are responsible for keeping the grass cut and keeping our grounds so very nice looking. Special thanks to them!

TEMPORARY SUNDAY MASS TIME CHANGE: For the next several Sundays, our principal Sunday Mass will begin at 10:15 am as Father Rich will be having a special 8:45 am Mass in Big Pond where there will be breakfast served ($7) in the Fire Hall. He needs a little extra time to make it back to Sydney.

MONTHLY POTLUCK: Our monthly potluck meal takes place today immediately after Mass in Sala 1050. All present including any visitors or tourists are most welcome- Zapraszamy!

Thanks to all who are helping us build up this fund that will allow us to finish our kitchen in Sala 1050.

POLAND-UKRAINE TOUR MEETING: This Sunday afternoon we will have the final meeting for our Poland and Ukraine pilgrimage tour participants at 5 p.m. in Sala 1050. We will be collecting $180 for the round trip bus transfers to the Halifax Airport. After the meeting this Sunday afternoon, Edyta Baczyk, our Polish language instructor will have a session for those interested in learning some Polish, especially for travel situations as a tourist in Poland.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL: This afternoon, Sacred Heart Parish in Johnstown will have its annual Strawberry festival after the special 2 p.m. outdoor Mass at the parish hall.

PIEROGI MAKING SESSIONS FOR THE SLAVIC FESTIVAL: All men and women of the parish are invited to help with the sessions which will be on Sunday, July 16th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Monday from 9:00 am on. All sessions to be held at the Polish Village Hall.

FATIMA CELEBRATION: This Thursday (the 13th of the month) we will have a Fatima Celebration at the 6:30 p.m. Mass with the statue of Our Lady present. Special indulgence is available for those who come the 13th day of the month between May and October.

FIRST MASS CELEBRATION: We will have a First Mass Celebration at our church next  week (Wednesday, July 19th at 6:30 pm) of a  newly ordained young priest, Father Michael Lund, who was an altar boy server for Father Rich in Dartmouth and in Wilno where his family now lives. His mother is descended from the first polish Kashub immigrants that settled in the Madawska Vally in the 1850s. More about this in next week’s bulletin.
