OGŁOSZENIA/ANNOUNCEMENTS

ON-LINE VERSION OF BULLETIN: As of this week, our bulletin is also available on-line on the parish website: www.stmaryspolishparish.ca .
SERDECZNIE DZIEKUJEMY/THANK YOU: A big thank you to everyone who helped with all of our Easter festivities: the blessing of the Easter baskets, the decorating, the Easter breakfast, and all the regular and special tasks. “Bog zaplac” to Marjorie and Carolyn for the added touch of tulips and cards for all parishioners and visitors on Holy Saturday. May God bless everyone who helped and the whole parish.
CEREMONY/SUPPER/TRADITIONAL ENTERTAINMENT hosted by the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble and the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society -- SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2012 – 7 p.m., Polish Village Hall -- $25 per person.
You are invited to an evening of culture and celebration. Tickets are being offered for sale first to parishioners of St. Mary’s Polish Church in recognition of our collective efforts and solidarity over the past few months. To purchase a ticket, please contact Shari McKay, Director of the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble, within the next two days (shari_pogoria@hotmail.com; 539-4354).
Nova Scotia’s Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, the Honourable David Wilson, will be among the dignitaries in attendance to proclaim in effect Bill 129 -- An Act to Amend the St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society Act. This legislation was recently passed unanimously by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It is the first law in Canada with official Polish text. It modernizes the Society’s structures and rules, and makes clear the Society’s role in preserving Polish culture in Cape Breton and in supporting the parish. The previous law was passed on May 3, 1912.
A supper will be served, and the Pogoria Polish Folk Ensemble will present traditional dances from various Polish regions and an original skit.
FEAST OF MARY, QUEEN OF POLAND: Sunday, May 6, is the Sunday closest to Polish Constitution Day (May 3rd), which is also a significant feast for Polish churches around the world. It is known as the Feast of Mary, Queen of Poland.
We would like to invite all parishioners who have traditional Polish attire to please wear it to Mass on Sunday, May 6th.
