“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name. Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
July 19: Wincenty
July 20: Małgorzata, Paweł
July 21: Andrzej, Daniel, Paulina, Stojsław, Wiktor
July 22: Bolesława, Bolisława, Maria Magdalena, Milenia, Więcemiła
July 23: Bogna
July 24: Antoni, Kinga, Krystyna, Olga, Wojciecha
July 25: Jakub, Krzysztof, Sławosz, Walentyna
July 26: Anna, Grażyna

OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS
THE FUND-RAISING WORKING GROUP(for rebuilding) will meet today after Mass in the O’Connell House.
REBUILDING UPDATE: A further note to our update last Sunday during the parish lunch. The Rada has a meeting with the bishop and other diocesan representatives this coming Tuesday for final overviews and hopefully signatures for work to begin. Virtually all the preliminary work is now done, and the architect/construction managers are prepared to do the final filings with the municipality, begin issuing tenders, and schedule a sod-turning with us (more on this hopefully in next Sunday’s bulletin). Please pray for a speedy and successful start to the project. Dziękujemy bardzo!
A NOTE ON THE WORK SITE: The Rada was asked to advise fellow parishioners that once work begins on site (the first stage will be excavation of the old foundations), it will be a secure construction site under the direction of a construction manager, with no entry onto the site except for scheduled times to see progress. Thank you for your understanding. Continuous updates will be provided.
LOAVES AND FISHES: Thank you for your contributions last Sunday. These have been delivered.
CONCERT OF CHOIRS - MAJOR FUND-RAISER FOR OUR REBUILDING: Evening of Sunday, October 25, United Heritage Church, downtown Sydney. Thanks to our friends at United Heritage Church for making their sanctuary available at no charge. This concert will be a big project for our rebuilding
POLISH VILLAGE HALL – Peacock feather sponsorships in memory of deceased loved ones: The St. Michael’s Polish Benefit Society will soon be inscribing additional peacock feathers in the downstairs exhibit area. If you would like to sponsor one for $100 (toward the work of the Society), please speak with Nicole Baker (902-371-5088).
RECENT “IMO” (in memory of) CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE (RE-)BUILDING FUND:
IMO Dorothy Rozeluk from Jancia & Bernie LaRusic
IMO Kaz Siepierski from Peter & Aggie Stephenson
IMO Lorway Gosse from Nellie Tynski
IMO of all deceased parishioners from Lynette Ryba (with thanks to Lynette for fudge sales)
UPRZEJMA PROŚBA -- DIRECT-MAIL FUND-RAISING APPEALS FOR RE-BUILDING: We are still collecting names and addresses for our direct appeal (personalized letters in Polish or English). Please share any addresses of friends, relatives, or potential supporters of our rebuilding. Please share this information/suggestions with Stephanie Black (902-567-2593). Over the next few weeks, we are working to send out many letters.
Święta Kinga / St. Kinga of Poland (Feast Day: July 24): Kinga (1224-1292) was a Hungarian princess married to King Boleslaw V of Poland. St. Kinga preferred a life of modesty and poverty. When her husband died she gave away all her material possessions and spent all her time helping poor people and lepers. She moved to a monastery and refused to allow people to refer to her by her royal titles. She was known to give gifts of salt to symbolize the influence we can have just by doing good. She is therefore the patron saint of salt miners. In the Wieliczka Salt Mine near Krakow (an incredible, underground world heritage site) there is an elaborate chapel made from salt called St. Kinga’s Chapel.

New “IMO” (Building Fund) cards and envelopes have been printed and are at the back of the church.
REBUILDING FUND CONTRIBUTIONS: Building Fund contributions will go toward the new church. To contribute to the rebuilding if you do not have an envelope, you can also write on your regular envelope or cheque “Designated to the Rebuilding of St. Mary’s Polish Church.”
