“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
November 24: Dobrosław, Emilia, Emma, Franciszek, Gerard, Jan, Pęcisław
November 25: Katarzyna, Tęgomir

THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING was instituted in 1925. In 1969, Pope Paul VI moved it to the last Sunday of ordinary time (in other words, the Sunday before Advent). In the encyclical explaining why this Feast was established, Pope Pius XI wrote:  “Christ reigns, too, in the wills of men, for in him the human will was perfectly and entirely obedient to the Holy Will of God, and further by his grace and inspiration he so subjects our free-will as to incite us to the most noble endeavours. “He is King of hearts, too, by reason of his charity which exceedeth all knowledge. And his mercy and kindness which draw all to him …”

THE RENOVATED AND REFURBISHED POLISH VILLAGE HALL is a comfortable, well appointed, modernized venue for events large and small. Please consider renting the hall for your events. Please call 564-8494.
