OGŁOSZENIA / ANNOUNCEMENTS

FATHER RICH REPORTS:

Niech Bedzie Pochwalony Jezus Chrytsus! Praise be Jesus Christ!

This Sunday is the last of the solemnities that will take place as we celebrate the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ which is known as “Corpus Christi” in Latin and “Boze Cialo” in Polish. We will (weather permitting) honour the living presence of the Blessed Sacrament with a Eucharistic procession to four altars following Mass where the Gospel of four Evangelists are proclaimed at the four outdoor altar stations. First Holy Communion of Robbie Melski will also take place at the 10:00 am Mass. Robbie made his first Penance(confession) last Friday. I thank and congratulate his parents and godparent sponsors for keeping their vows made at Robbie’s baptism of bringing him in the faith.  I also want to thank Anne Marie Campbell who was his catechist and prepared him for this very special event in his faith journey.

Following the Mass and procession, all are invited to our Sala 1050 for cake, (maybe ice cream!) coffee, tea and milk or juice.

I also want to recognize and honour all of our Fathers who together with their wives have become partners with the Creator in giving and caring for human life through their children. May our deceased Fathers and Grandfathers be rewarded with eternal life.

Last Sunday I was surprised with the birthday cake at our potluck. I want to thank all for your greetings, cards and gifts.

You may attend the special 6:00 pm Mass next Saturday, June 24th in place of the Sunday Mass as our American visitors from Las Vegas and Chicago need to leave early Sunday morning for Truro where a train will take them to Quebec.

Please note that this coming week there will be Mass only on Monday morning and Friday evening as I will be with the American group from Las Vegas and Chicago.
There will be a lay led novena devotion to Our Lady of Czestochowa on Wednesday at 6:45 pm. The Parish Rada will meet afterwards in Sala 1050. I want to congratulate and thank the two new members of the Rada: Sophie O’Toole and Jerry Pocius who will now begin serving on the Parish Rada. Next Sunday, June 25th, we welcome Father Alex MacLellan for our two Masses

IN MEMORY OF (IMO) DONATIONS TO THE REBULIDING FUND:
IMO Dawn Marie Wadden from Ian & Heather MacNeil, Elizabeth & David Poleeoto, Krista Starzomski-Wilson, Peggy Ryba
IMO Edward Mroz from Peggy Ryba, Jancia MacCormack
IMO Deceased members of the Starzomski family from Rosalie Starzomski

CORPUS CHRISTI / BOZE CIAŁO: This will be celebrated today with an outdoor (weather permitting) Eucharistic procession. We will also celebrate the First Holy Communion of Robbie Melski. Reception to follow in Sala 1050.

CHICKEN & CABBAGE ROLL DINNER & DANCE: This will be held on Saturday, June 24th (St. John’s Day) at 7:00 pm at the Polish Village Hall. Tickets are available from Stephanie Black. A Vigil Mass will be celebrated in our church before the event with participation by our visitors from Las Vegas & Chicago. Volunteer ushers and lectors needed!

CONSECRATION OF CANADA TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY ON THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF CONFEDERATION: On the occasion of Canada’s 150th  anniversary, the Bishops of Canada have decided to consecrate our country to the protection and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Our Bishop has asked that on the Canada Day weekend at all Masses, we have a special prayer of consecration that the presiding priests will recite as we place our country under the mantle of the One who is Mother of Christ and our spiritual mother as well.

CATHOLIC LITERATURE IN VESTIBULE: You may have noticed that on the table against the wall there are a number of newspapers, magazines and pamphlets that are displayed. They are free and we encourage you to take something to read home with you as we have no Catholic newspaper or media in our region.

QUIET REVERANCE IN CHURCH BEFORE HOLY MASS: Please remember the Catholic custom of refraining from unnecessary talk and conversation before Mass begins. As we believe Christ is truly present in the tabernacle, it has always been a practice in our Catholic churches that we refrain from talking as there are those (and that should really be everyone) who wish to have private prayer time before Mass begins.  After Mass, as well, there should not be an eruption of loud noise! We will hopefully soon have social hours after Mass in our Sala once the kitchen has been completed.

DAY OF PRAYER FOR PRIESTS: The late St. Pope John Paul II initiated the call for prayers for priests each year on the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus which falls on Friday, June 23rd. At the concelebrated Mass at 6:30 p.m. we will offer special prayers together with the litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for all priests everywhere who are following the call of Christ to minister to the world.

NEW CHURCH SIGNS: You will notice the  new signs (one in English and one in Polish) that have been completed and installed in front of the church. Soon the same designer will begin work on our plaques or gift (and memorial) listings that will go along the side wall of the corridor that leads from the church to the Sala(hall). We will soon be making one last appeal for parishioners and former parishioners to have either themselves or their deceased loved one(s) included in the listing.

POLISH FOOD PREPARATIONS: A very special thanks go to all of the volunteers led by Stephanie Black who completed ahead of schedule pierogi and golabki making for both the Supper next Saturday as well as planning ahead for the Slavic Festival at the end of August.

GRANTS TO OUR COMMUNITY: The Province of Nova Scotia has issued a cheque for $55,918.29 to St Michael’s Polish Benefit Society for repairing and remodeling after the flood damage. The CBRM has issued a grant of $2,500 for the Whitney Pier Slavic Festival.
