Zesłanie Ducha Świętego / Pentecost

Uroczystość Zesłania Ducha Świętego / Pentecost: Pentecost – literally the fiftieth day (after Easter) – marks the descent of the Holy Spirit among the apostles and other followers of Jesus. Typical church images of the Pentecost show the Virgin Mary seated with the apostles. On this day, we pray for wisdom, piety, and discernment, among other virtues. “Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of your love.”  “Przyjdź, Duchu Święty, i zapal w nas płomień.”

TODAY’S MASS INTENTION is for Jim Leonard offered by the Kyte family. Wieczny odpoczynek racz Mu dać Panie, a swiatłość wiekuista niechaj Mu świeci na wieki wieków. Amen

The Vigil Candle this week is for the Holy Father’s prayer intention: “O Lord, send the Holy Spirit to bring solace to persecuted Christians.”

Eucharistic Minister for today: Janet Hawthorne

Ushers for collection today: Bernie LaRusic, Tony Gniewek

“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:
May 24: Jan, Joanna, Maria, Zula, Zuzanna
May 25: Grzegorz, Imisława, Maria Magdalena
May 26: Filip, Marianna, Paulina, Ewelina
May 27: Jan, Juliusz, Lucjan, Magdalena
May 28: Augustyn, Jaromir, Wiktor, Wrocimir
May 29: Bogusława, Maksymilian, Maria, Magdalena, Teodor, Urszula
May 30: Feliks, Joanna
May 31: Aniela, Bożysława, Teodor
