TODAY AT 2 P.M. DIVINE MERCY CELEBRATION (COINCIDING WITH CANONIZATION), FOLLOWED BY LUNCH

Niedziela Miłosierdzia Bożego / Today is Divine Mercy Sunday: “Jesus said to Sr. Faustina one day: `Humanity will never find peace until it turns with trust to Divine Mercy.’ Divine Mercy! This is the Easter gift that the Church receives from the risen Christ and offers to humanity.”
--St. John Paul II, April 22, 2001

Sister Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938) was canonized in 2000, and the Holy Father officially designated the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday in the General Roman Calendar, an important moment of Grace and Devotion reflecting what was communicated to Sister Faustina. Divine Mercy Sunday is also the day after the conclusion of the Novena of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which begins on Good Friday. Its closing prayer is: “Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.”

“IMIENINY” (NAME DAYS) FOR THE COMING WEEK. Help to maintain a longstanding Polish Catholic tradition by acknowledging relatives, friends, and colleagues who are celebrating their “name day,” corresponding with the feast day of a saint of the same name.  Where there is more than one saint of the same name who has been assigned a day, your “name day” is the one closest to your birthday. It is customary in the Polish tradition to acknowledge the name day of a relative or friend:

POST COMMUNION – A HYMN TO THE DIVINE MERCY
Bądż Uwielbiony

Bądź uwielbiony, Stwórco nasz i Panie.
Wszechświecie cały, uwielbiaj Pana w pokorze,
Dziękuj swemu Stwórcy na ile sił ci stanie,
Wysławiaj Jego miłosierdzie Boże.

Pójdź, ziemio cala w swej zieleni,
Pójdź i niezgłębione morze,
Niech twa wdzięczność w miłą pieśń się zmieni
I śpiewa, jak wielkie jest miłosierdzie Boże.

Pójdź, słońce piękne, promieniste,
Pójdźcie przed nim jasne zorze,
Łączcie się w jeden hymn, niech glosy czyste,
Zgodnie wyśpiewują wielkie miłosierdzie Boże.

Bądź uwielbiony, Stwórco nasz i Panie.
Wszechświecie cały, uwielbiaj Pana w pokorze,
Dziękuj swemu Stwórcy na ile sił ci stanie,
Wysławiaj Jego miłosierdzie Boże.

Be glorified, our Creator and Lord.
The whole universe, praise the Lord in humility,
Thank the Creator with all the strength you can muster,
Praise His mercy.

Come, O earth with all its greenery,
Behold the depths of the seas
Let your gratitude be manifested in a beautiful hymn
Singing how great is the mercy of God.

Follow the sun beautiful, radiant,
Come before him bright auroras,
Unite in one hymn, let voices with clarity
Sing in unison about the great mercy of God.

Be glorified, our Creator and Lord.
The whole universe, praise the Lord in humility,
Thank the Creator with all the strength you can muster,
Praise His mercy.
